Plug C14 (YP-32)
IEC 60320-C 13 is used for the power connection of devices that do not generate heat during operation. The maximum temperature of the plug must not exceed 70°C and the maximum current flow is fixed at 10 A. Cold appliance plugs do not fit into warm or hot appliance sockets.
Plug C15 (YC-20)
Hot appliance plugs are used for heat-generating appliances, such as mobile hotplates, industrial hoovers, waffle irons or irons of older design and switches (network distributors) of the latest design, with detachable supply lead.
The C15 and C16 are similar to C 13/14. However, the C16 connector has a lock that prevents the connection of a C 13 plug. The C15 will still fit into the C14 appliance inlet. Consequently, a hot appliance cable can be connected to a computer, for example, but a cold appliance cable cannot be connected to a hotplate.
