Notice:
In a crossover cable, the transmit data is swapped with the receive data at one end so that data can be exchanged when a direct connection is made. If the send and receive data were not swapped, no connection could be established. With Gigabit Ethernet, cross cables can usually be dispensed with, since Auto-MDI-X (automatic detection) is defined in the standard and is supported by most devices.
